Raised in Western Sydney in a multinational family, Jonathan Serafino’s curiosity was piqued by the cultures around him, leading him to explore the unique differences and commonalities in the human experience.
This curiosity stayed with him throughout his seven-year stint in the finance world and was fuelled by extensive travel. Fascinated by humans and the way we relate to each other, Jonathan feels that with every character he is blessed to play, he learns a little bit more about himself, others, and the world.
Jonathan made his stage debut in the Short and Sweet Festival 2021 in I am not a cup of Tea (dir Jonathan Solomon) and Rose (dir Andrew Cremen).
At ACA, Jonathan played Jake in Banging Denmark, Gayev in The Cherry Orchard, Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sam in Simmer, Marco in A View from A Bridge and Peter in Stags and Hens.
In 2023, Jonathan played Pierre Wallace in the short film The Things We Do (dir Reid McGowan). He recently appeared in Caryl Churchill’s Ice Cream with Hot Fudge (dir Greta Goodworth) at the Substation Theatre by Qtopia and in January 2025, will reprise his role as Peter in Stags and Hens at the New Theatre.
It was his yearning for play that drew him here, and it is this thirst for understanding that keeps him going.
