2024 Graduate

Eliza Wachholz

Born and raised in Bondi Beach, Eliza Wachholz is the black sheep of her family of surfers – with a passion for performing arts fostered by her musician father, Eliza’s love of acting began with the films she watched nonstop as a child. What began as admiration of what was on the screen, quickly became determination to be on the screen, and thus an actor was born. Eliza’s passion for acting combined with her love of singing, music, and writing, drove her school experience, participating in every play and musical in every way she could. This continued after graduation, where she spent one year at the University of Melbourne to study English and Theatre. While she was there, she played the lead role in a production of We Will Rock You. While this year allowed her to fall in love with the theatre scene in Melbourne, nurtured a love of writing, and broadened her knowledge of the literary and theatrical canon, what it solidified was her desire to be perform and create. So she soon arrived at Actors Centre Australia, and the rest, as they say, is history.

While at ACA Eliza had the pleasure of playing Stacey in Who’s Afraid of the Working Class?, Vic in Away, Dunyasha in The Cherry Orchard, Paulina and the Old Shepherd in The Winter’s Tale, Beatrice in A View From the Bridge, Mariche in Simmer, and Madame de Tourvel in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Eliza is immensely grateful for the time she has spent at ACA and feels confident in and excited by the huge variety of skills her studies have given her.

Eliza is a vivacious and instinct-driven artist with a deep well of passion for words, art, and acting, and she cannot wait to spring forth into her creative career with passion, drive, and a determination to succeed.
