Charlie Dakin

Charlie Dakin was born in London and raised in Kent, but has been living in Sydney for the past ten years. His passion for acting was sparked at just three years old when taken to his first pantomime. His mother fondly recalls how he turned to her after a performance of Peter Pan, pointed to the stage and said ‘I want to do that’. Eighteen years later and the desire to perform still hasn’t burnt out. Prior to studying at ACA, Charlie was awarded a Scholarship for the Dramatic Arts at Australian Performing Arts Grammar School where his love for acting was further nourished, leading him down a path which would find him studying at Actors Centre Australia to commit himself to the honing of his craft.

While studying at ACA, Charlie has had the privilege of playing the roles of Michael in Dancing at Lughnasa, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Jack in The Importance of Being Earnest, Young Man in The Ham Funeral, John in Sanctuary, August Epp in Women Talking and Harry Brewer in Our Country’s Good.

Outside of acting, Charlie’s passions include music, film and television as well as being an avid reader. He took great pleasure in assisting with the musical elements of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, composing original parts on guitar and bass alongside other members of the cast, as well as being a member of the house band for various singing showcases.

Charlie is keen to enter the industry with three years of training under his belt and to sink his teeth into all types of different work to continue growing as an artist
