The New York City-born, Hong Kong-raised child of Australian bankers, Finley found their love of performance in the prestigious role of Cow 2 in Ridgeway Elementary School’s 1999 production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and once they stepped hoof on that stage it was clear that acting was their destiny. Finn starred in several indie films and plays in Hong Kong, most notably a bilingual Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, before moving to Sydney in 2011. They spent the next eight years as a performance artist until they were accepted into ACA.
Their roles at ACA include: Tuzenbach – Three Sisters (dir. Sam Trotman), Sideway – Our Country’s Good (dir. Troy Harrison), Daniel – Who’s Afraid of the Working Class? (dir. Troy Harrison), Betty 5 – Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties (dir. Troy Harrison), Dan/Roy/Herculine Barbin – A Mouthful of Birds (dir. Lucy Burke), and their dream role of Mercutio – Romeo and Juliet (dir. Craig Baldwin).
Finley is a proud nonbinary and transmasculine person, and uses they/them pronouns. They have a deep love for Shakespeare, science fiction and voice acting. Outside of acting their passions include animal rescue, video games and political and social activism.
