Welcoming WINDA Film Festival into ACA for the special screening of Cousins! We are thrilled to celebrate this wonderful festival, indigenous arts and this beautiful film!
Congratulations to the filmmakers of ‘Cousins’ and to ACA’s valued partners WINDA Indigenous Film Festival!
On Friday 11 June, Actors Centre Australia welcomed their key partners WINDA Film Festival, hosting a special screening of Cousins by filmmakers Ainslee Gardiner and Briar-Grace Smith. Patrons and special guests were welcomed with a smoking ceremony and welcome to country, followed by an amazing Hakka, that then opened the film for the night. ACA is incredibly proud to present and support the indigenous filmmaking and in particular, this incredibly moving and touching film!
ACA’s Anthony Kierann says “This is a significant milestone for ACA, to be able to advocate for indigenous arts through our valued partnership with WINDA Indigenous Film festival and bring a cultural festival and vital piece of history to the wider community. It was fantastic to see such a wonderful turn out and we are particularly thrilled to welcome Leah Purcell AM, an Indigenous Australian actresses, director and writer. She is a Helpmann Award and AACTA Award winner and her debut feature Drover’s Wife is set for international release”.
We look forward to welcoming more events with WINDA at ACA!
