Originally from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Nicola has always found solace away from the sun in performance. Beginning with dance, she has trained at a competitive level in Contemporary, Jazz and Ballet. Her interest in acting began at the age of fourteen, taking improvisation and acting classes, as well as enriching casting workshops with Maura Fay and Leigh Pickford.
During her time at ACA, Nicola has enjoyed playing a wide range of roles including Valerie in That Pretty Pretty; or, The Rape Play (dir. Troy Harrison), Clytemnestra in The Oresteia (dir. Gale Edwards), Olivia in Twelfth Night (dir. Adam Cook), Gwendolen in The Importance of Being Wilde (dir. Maeliosa Stafford) and Lenny in Crimes of the Heart (dir. Francesca Savige). She also collaborated with her classmates, producing/acting in Attempts on Her Life (dir. Harry Reid) as part of These Premises Are Alarmed and the devised work What Falls Away (dir. Anthony Skuse and Julia Cotton). Throughout her training, Nicola has honed many of her creative skills, including singing, voice work and writing.
Thanks to Jennifer West’s voice classes and Damien Ryan’s classes on analysing Shakespeare, she has further developed her love for poetry and heightened text, in addition to writing and performing her own work. Following graduation, she looks forward to collaborating with her fellow graduates in developing and performing works created for performance.
